Conclusion
The ending data proved my hypothesis that if homes have two waste bins, one for recycling and one for non-recyclable trash, then the amount of recyclable waste sent to landfills can be significantly reduced. Recyclable waste can be reused or recycled into new product, this will reduce our negative impact on our environment.
After my data was collected I was able to present to my Science Olympiad team about the impact of recycling and what they can do to help in their homes. In total it was about 20 kids as well as some of our coaches. We discussed topics such as what can be recycled, what happens to trash that isn't recycled and its effects on the environment as well as different recycling programs the could take action in such as Paper Gator or Everkept.
